The Daily Wire, one of America’s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment, is searching for a new Managing Editor to support the Editorial and Publishing divisions of our company. This role is based out of our buzzing and newly developed offices in beautiful Nashville, Tennessee.

The Managing Editor will direct the Daily Wire Readers Pass program, developing and implementing the program’s business strategy with the goal of growing and retaining Daily Wire membership, and creating and implementing systems to regularly produce, publish, and promote content for the program. This person will also be heavily involved in the Publishing division of Daily Wire, managing book editors, reviewing book proposals, and more.

  • Work alongside Daily Wire’s VP of Publishing to create and execute the Daily Wire Readers Pass program strategy
  • Remain flexible, adaptable, and proactive in responding to and pursuing the growth of the program
  • Manage the editorial process for all of the Readers Pass pieces:
    • Edit the pieces
    • Manage in-house Writers
    • Manage the editorial schedule
    • Field pitches
  • Provide regular financial and strategic reports on the program
  • Create systems designed to regularly receive Readers Pass content from staff members, contractors, and contributors
  • Contact and coordinate with Talent, including Daily Wire staff, contractors, and contributors
  • Help develop new Readers Pass pieces, collections, and series
  • Coordinate with Editors who work with Readers Pass content
  • Inform and improve the promotion of Readers Pass content through advertising and other means
  • Provide regular updates on upcoming content and potential new content
  • Work with VP of Publishing to solicit outside commissions
  • Review and assess book proposals
  • Coordinate hiring freelance book editors and manage process
  • Take direction on content and approach from Daily Wire’s VP of Publishing
  • Work closely with the Daily Wire Marketing team
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Experience & Requirements:

  • Nashville, TN -based position (working remotely is not an option)
  • Previous professional experience in a comparable position
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills
  • Excellent command of written English
  • A high-level understanding of journalistic writing
  • Competency with devices, software, and platforms necessary for journalistic writing and online communication
  • Motivation and self-discipline to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines
  • Resourceful with a high sense of urgency
  • Ability to accept criticism and feedback and use it in a constructive way
  • Knowledge of the political editorial landscape and of the audience of our publication
  • G-suite proficiency
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced and high-energy work environment

Start date: Immediate

Employment type: Full-time; Exempt

Compensation: Dependent Upon Experience
